Dear Erskine Family,
When we began the SAFE website, our goal was to provide a voice for students and alumni committed to the goal of an Erskine “faithful to Christ, faithful to Scripture, and faithful to its mission as the College of the ARP Church.” Over the past 18 months, Erskine has been embroiled in a serious controversy regarding the implementation of its mission and its relationship with the ARP Church. Throughout this controversy, we recognize that we could have better handled some things.
Still, we have seen God continue to bless and sustain Erskine through one of the most trying periods of her history. But this is now a new day for Erskine, and therefore we believe that this website has served its purpose. Our hope is that the divisions of the past can be healed and the Erskine family reunited under its common mission.
As a step in that healing process, we have removed the contents of the SAFE website and urge other websites and Facebook groups previously involved in this controversy to do likewise. Our hope is that the entire Erskine family can now prayerfully unite under the leadership of Erskine College & Seminary President Dr. David Norman as he guides Erskine as a “faithful, truly self-governing” institution of the ARP Church.
We are thankful to Dr. Norman, the ARP General Synod, the Erskine Board of Trustees, the Alumni Association and others who remain committed to Erskine, and encourage everyone to join us in fully supporting Erskine through prayer and financial giving. In addition, we will keep President Norman in prayer as he continues to make Erskine a top-tiered Christian liberal arts college for years to come.
